My Story

Born in Yorkshire, England 1979, then moving to Southern Spain, Malaga in 2001, I’ve lived two very different lifestyles which had an overall influence on the way I paint today.

My artistic talents, as I remember, were noticed at an early age, which ultimately earned me scholarships throughout my later years of school education. My actual passion for art wasn’t apparent until my 20’s whilst living in Malaga.

It was the move in 2001 that instigated my decision to start building a portfolio for future exhibitions.

Over the years my artistic style has been through various changes. Before my move to Spain, my passion for aerosol art and ‘spraying on walls’ was my chosen form for ‘expressing my creative flare’. Once relocated to Spain, I then changed my medium to acrylic on canvas. Venturing into abstract and ‘decorative’ in my earlier years, to then into a more ‘pop art’ style some years later.

However, I always seemed to be searching for a special, uniquely themed collection that would reach the viewer with a deeper meaning. I wanted to base it on my own and others, life experiences.

As an artist, I always want to ‘touch’ the viewers mind with my work by producing thought provoking pieces.

My latest collection, ‘The Writing on the Wall’, is exactly this.
Looking back, I have subconsciously incorporated subtle techniques and ideas from previous years of painting, but more evidently, changed from using acrylic paint, to oils.
Now I try to avoid creating art that falls into a more commercial theme.

Generally when I paint my canvases, my aim is to create a level of curiosity and make the viewer think. The paintings being liked and bought is obviously a very flattering and complimentary bonus.

For me, it’s about art from the heart!
